Lose pregnancy weight safely
It is understandable if, during pregnancy the desire just to slob out becomes too strong and watching what you eat and continuing with some sort of sensible exercise takes a back seat. What they forget is that when their baby comes along that additional weight doesn’t just go away. The average women gains between twenty five and thirty five pounds as a result of pregnancy and loses about fourteen of them when baby comes along. This leaves up to twenty pounds in additional weight and the purpose of this article is to give you some steps that you can to lose pregnancy weight.
Apart from the weight gain the new mother is bound to be less than toned and getting back to exercising properly may not be easy. It is easy to view losing weight as an almost impossible task which can lead to depression. The first stage to losing pregnancy weight is to breastfeed your baby. Studies have demonstrated that breastfeeding will result in the new mother shedding weight faster than those who don’t. Of course the fact that it is also a lot healthier for your baby is a good reason to do so too.
The second step for losing pregnancy weight is to clear out your fridge and cupboards. If you are honest with yourself you know that lurking behind the fruit and veg are some sugar filled snacks - throw them out ! You need to start eating a healthy diet and cut out the overeating that you became accustomed to during your pregnancy. If you are breastfeeding you will need to be aware of the foods that you put into your body because these will affect the quality of your milk.
The third thing when it comes to losing pregnancy weight is to get active. A great way to start is by walking, very good for you and something you can do with your baby. A half hour of walking is all you need each day to improve your health and lose weight. Getting your shape back is important too. Pelvic and abdominal exercises should become part of your daily routine. Your baby can actually be part of the routine. If you adopt the classic position for doing crunches, lying on your back with knees raised, baby could be resting against your legs, ready to play peek-a-boo when you begin doing your crunches. You might not be able to do this with a newborn but once your baby is a little older you can and it’s great fun too.
More information on losing pregnancy weight
It really is not too difficult to get back to your normal weight and shape in 2 months if your are prepared to do a little, regular exercise and adopt a sensible diet. Please remember that post pregnancy is not the time to go in for any kind of starvation or “fad” diet. The rapid weight loss that these diets promise can be accompanied by a serious lack of energy. You don’t need to be reminded, I’m sure, that the last thing you need with a newborn is lack of energy. As I mentioned earlier, as far as milk quality is concerned, you are what you eat.
